£18 million for seafront and town centre improvements in CleethorpesÌý(Levelling Up Fund 2)

Over £18 million from the Levelling Up Fund was awarded to North East Lincolnshire Council to revitalise Cleethorpes seafront and town centre.

The funding will be spent on three schemes that will transform Cleethorpes into a year-round destination.ÌýÌýÌý

Rejuvenating Cleethorpes Market SquareÌý

This existing car park will be removed and replaced with a functioning marketplace. The new Market Square will reconnect the busy seafront with the town centre, with:Ìý

  • 800sqm additional retail spaceÌý
  • up to 40 new jobsÌý
  • a safer, more pleasant environment for pedestriansÌý

Extra parking will also be created nearby at Grant Street.Ìý

Sea RoadÌý

Levelling Up funding will support the construction of a new landmark building opposite Cleethorpes pier for visitors to enjoy and help extend the tourist season.ÌýÌý

Regeneration of Cleethorpes Pier GardensÌý

The Victorian linear park will be renovated and aim to bring in around £18.7m of economic benefits.ÌýÌý

Improvements to the Linear Park include:

  • an outdoor leisure spaceÌý
  • a series of outdoors rooms to be used for a variety of recreational activitiesÌýÌý
  • more plants and wildlife to increase biodiversity in the areaÌý
