The empowers the government to provide selective financial assistance to industry in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

As required by Sections 11(2) and 15 of the Industrial Development Act 1982, the annual reports set out the exercise of powers under the act during that financial year, including the powers under stated past legislation which the act consolidated.
