The Government People Function is the cross-government community of civil servants who support or enable the delivery of human resources (HR) in the Civil Service
Who we are
The Government People Function (GPF) is the cross-government community of approximately 12,000 civil servants who support the delivery of human resources (HR) in the Civil Service.
As one of the 14 cross-cutting government functions, the People Function exists to enable and improve the delivery of HR in government by ensuring those who support HR delivery have the skills, tools and support they need to excel in their roles.
We do this by:
- Setting cross-government strategies
- Setting and assuring standards
- Developing capability through the
- Giving expert advice
- Driving continuous improvement
- Developing and delivering commonly required services
The Government People Function is defined in the Government Functional Standard, which outlines how Civil Service organisations will work together to achieve collective goals.
The functional and strategic centre of the Government People Function is the Government People Group.
Civil Service People Plan 2024-27
A shared aim of all civil servants working in the Government People Function is to support the delivery of the Civil Service People Plan 2024-2027.听
The People Plan outlines five People Priorities for the Civil Service, alongside 45 commitments to address our most immediate people challenges. Departmental plans and strategies also align with and contribute towards the People Plan.
