1. Who we are and what we do

Constitutionally, we are a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG). Our statutory objects are contained in the , the legislation creating the Homes and Communities Agency, which in 2018 adopted 鈥淗omes England鈥� as its trading name.鈥�

Section 2 to the HRA sets out our statutory functions, which are:

  1. To improve the supply and quality of housing;听
  2. To secure the regeneration or development of land or infrastructure;听
  3. To support in other ways the creation, regeneration or development of communities or their continued wellbeing; and,听
  4. To contribute to the achievement of sustainable development and good design, with a view to meeting peoples鈥� needs.听
  5. Homes England are responsible for these objectives across England, except in London.
