The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) commissioned an independent provider to conduct the 鈥楤arriers and Enablers to Participation in Youth Activities鈥� research.
The report explores the effect of a range of personal characteristics on patterns of participation in youth activities, and the barriers and enablers that explain why.聽
The research aimed to provide a better understanding of the motivations and patterns of participation amongst different groups of young people, thus informing the design of future policy interventions to engage more young people to participate in the ways they want.聽
The research draws on analysis of the DCMS Youth Participation Pilot Survey, a nationally representative survey of nearly 2,000 young people aged 10 to 19, as well as interviews with young people and youth sector representatives.
