Details

This standard rules permit allows you to operate a household waste recycling centre, required by the Waste Disposal Authority (including a Unitary Authority). This is a site where non-hazardous and hazardous household wastes can be brought to the site by members of the public. Similar wastes from commercial and industrial sources may also be received.听

You can apply for this standard rules permit if:听

  • your activity meets the rules set out in the permit听

  • you can manage the potential risks as set out in the generic risk assessment听

The charges for applying for this standard rules permit are:听

  • 拢3,926 for a new standard rules permit application听

  • 拢1,178 for a minor variation to the permit听

  • 拢2,529 to transfer the permit听

  • 拢2,356 to surrender the permit听

There is also an annual subsistence charge of 拢1,109 for the standard rules permit.听

If you cannot comply with the new standard rules permit you will need to鈥apply to vary your permit鈥痠nto a bespoke permit. You must apply within 3 months of the date the standard rules was published (18 December 2024).

  1. Clarified that Table 2.1 applies to whole end-of-life tyres. Technique 6 has been changed so that it is the same as the requirements for WEEE set out in SR2022 No4 and SR2022 No5. Added the wording 鈥渨here this is necessary to prevent pollution of water鈥 to Technique 10. Technique 11 - clarified that lithium-ion batteries which have been sorted must be marked as a fire hazard and stored accordingly. Table 2.3a - waste code 16 01 03 has been amended to whole end-of-life-tyres. Added a link to 'Extension to comply with new standard rules permits: RPS 331' - this regulatory position statement has extended the deadline for complying or applying for a permit for existing permit holders.
