Estado del Arte en Cambio Clim谩tico, Agricultura y Seguridad Alimentaria de la Rep煤blica Dominicana [Status Report (The State of the Art) in Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security for the Dominican Republic]
Abstract
La Rep煤blica Dominicana es un pa铆s con un alto nivel de exposici贸n y vulnerabilidad a eventos clim谩ticos extremos a nivel mundial; es por esto que el Ministerio de Agricultura (MA) en colaboraci贸n con el Programa de Investigaci贸n CGIAR en Cambio Clim谩tico, Agricultura y Seguridad Alimentaria (CCAFS, por sus siglas en ingl茅s) en Am茅rica Latina y con apoyo del Consejo Agropecuario Centroamericano (CAC) presentan el 鈥淓stado del Arte en Cambio Clim谩tico, Agricultura y Seguridad Alimentaria de la Rep煤blica Dominicana鈥�, que incluye el marco gubernamental y actores involucrados en torno a esta tem谩tica. En el documento se evidencia como los efectos del cambio clim谩tico han afectado el campo dominicano en gran parte de sus cultivos y como el gobierno ha venido enfatizando esfuerzos para disminuir la vulnerabilidad de la poblaci贸n y aumentar su resiliencia mediante pol铆ticas p煤blicas y acciones integrales.
[The Dominican Republic is a country with a high level of exposure and vulnerability to extreme climate events at the global level. For this reason, the Ministry of Agriculture (MA), in collaboration with the CGIAR research programme on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) in Latin America, and with support from the Central American Council for Agriculture (CAC), present the 鈥淪tatus Report (State of the Art) on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security of the Dominican Republic鈥�, including the governmental framework and actors involved around this theme. The document provides evidence on how the effects of climate change have affected large portions of the country鈥檚 agriculture and how the government has come to renew efforts to decrease vulnerability of the population and increase resilience through public policy and comprehensive action.]
